Where To Begin...

Step 1: Generate a list of questions...
  • How is my benefit affected by starting or increasing work?
  • What is Ticket to Work?
  • Does using the Ticket affect my benefit?
Step 2: Gather the following information...
  1. Benefit amount or award letter from SSA
  2. Date benefit started
  3. Monthly breakdown of any work done since receiving benefit (dates and amounts.)
  4. Any letters received from SSA
  5. Any income information, earnings, bank statements, etc.

     
Step 3:  Contact Us...
  1. Look at the Community Work Incentives Coordinators Directory to find the specialist in your area.

     
Step 4: After You Speak with a CWIC...
  1. Decide what you would like to do about work.
  2. Follow any recommendations given by the CWIC, such as calling
     an Employment Network, housing assistance, transportation assistance, etc.
  3. Make an appointment to plan your benefit around your decision.
  4. If you make a plan and your circumstances change, or you encounter a problem with your benefit, contact your CWIC.
